Megan Prescott-Mouton

Megan PrescottMegan is a transplant to Texas from the beautiful state of Vermont. She graduated from the University of Vermont in 1991 after studying studio art, education, and art history and followed her love of the sun to Albuquerque, New Mexico. She spent the next several years teaching art to young people at the Harwood Art Center, Escuela Del Sol Montessori School, and Sandia Preparatory School as well as private lessons. Megan has always had an interest in using art as a healing tool so she brought her love of drawing to the Childrens Grief Center of New Mexico, where she was trained to hold art workshops for grieving families.

Megan returned to the Northeast in 1999 to the beautiful town of Middletown, Connecticut, home of Wesleyan University. During this time she continued teaching art in public and private settings and expanded her interest in the healing properties of creating art. Megan started a new art program at the Middletown Red Cross family shelter and was hired to hold workshops for domestic abuse groups, both of which continued for almost 5 years. She loved her work, but simply had to return to the warm sun…

Megan landed in Austin in 2005 where she taught art at the Austin Museum of Art, Austin Home Base School (AHB), and TNS Academy. During this time she also authored and illustrated a children’s book for families dealing with a loss in 2009 entitled, Squirrel and Oak: a Story of Hope and is an author and writing contributor for the Open To Hope Foundation.

Megan is thrilled to be a part of the EcoSchool community and looks forward to bringing her ability to build artistic confidence to her students. Megan believes that a solid art foundation can enhance many other areas of a child’s life and has seen firsthand how important the imagination is to future creative endeavors. She is excited to help bring out the natural artist inside of each and every student, and to see their brilliant abilities blossom throughout the school year.

May Fest and Village Mini Fair

Saturday, May 18th, 2 pm

EcoSchools’ annual May Fest is all set to be loads of fun and the Village Mini Fair just always is!

Come make a *Peep (a what?!) and take it for a whirl on the miniature Ferris wheel.
Or, if your Peep is feeling very adventurous, take off on the Bubble Blaster – always a wild ride and a hoot!  Or go the Peep Disco Dance Hall, or the zip line race course, or the Whirling Fan of Doom (sure to big a hit with the hard core thrill seekers!) – or, well, the list just goes on and on….

Perhaps your Peep is a little more low key, more of a shopper than a thrill seeker – well then, take it on the tour of Peep Homes or to the Village Market and see what simply cannot be lived without! Peep hats, shawls and shoes, pets and exotic animals from far and wide, dishes, tools, furnishings and more.

In addition to the Village Mini Fair we have live youth music groups, food, various “green” info stalls and a fun activities for the kids.

* A Peep is a 3″ tall doll with huge ideas, plans and ambitions and they just LOVE the Village Mini Fair, where everything is just their size and they can really “let their hair down”!

Y’all come on down for a rip roarin’ good time!
